The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). IPL Governing Council Chairman Vrijesh Patel has confirmed that IPL 2020 will be held in the UAE.
Patel, who will make the official announcement at the next meeting, told Cricinfo. However, the date of the competition has not been decided yet. IPL 2020 is being prepared from September 26 to November 7. According to Patel, IPL matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. According to the Indian cricket team's international game schedule, the IPL is scheduled to end on November 7. India is scheduled to play four-Test series in Australia from the first week of December. You have to stay in quarantine for 14 days.
"We were waiting for the official postponement of the T20 World Cup from the ICC. We have applied to the Government of India for permission and should get permission, ”he said. The IPL was scheduled to take place in April. But the coronavirus was transmitted indefinitely.
IPL is going to be held outside the country for the third time. Earlier, due to the 2009 general election, the entire edition was held in South Africa. In the 2014 general election, there were 20 IPL matches in the UAE.
The ICC meeting on Monday said the T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November has been postponed for a year due to a global outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID 19). Similarly, the Asia Cup T20 tournament scheduled to be held in Pakistan in September this year also paved the way for the IPL.
As of Tuesday, 57,193 people in the UAE had contracted corona and 49,621 had been cured. 340 people have died. More than 28,000 people have died in India from more than one million infections.
