The way has been paved for the national team to start training for the FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers at home on September 20.
Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada informed at a press conference on Tuesday that preparations for the international competition will start from September 1. Earlier, the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) working committee meeting had decided to start preparations for the national football team in July. According to the same decision, ANFA had written to Rakhep seeking permission from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Health, and other concerned agencies.
Manager of the national team Madhusudan Upadhyaya informed that the PCR test of the players and other precautions will be taken before the training of the national team. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has already announced the postponement of the World Cup qualifiers on September 8. The World Cup qualifiers in Chait were postponed due to Kovid 19, which is taking the form of an epidemic all over the world. Nepal now has three games left to play in the World Cup qualifiers. All those games will be held at Dasharath Stadium.

According to ANFA, an online meeting has been held between the players, coaches, and concerned people to discuss preparations and other issues. During the discussion, the players suggested starting preparations for the World Cup selection as soon as possible. Similarly, ANFA has already discussed with the Health Committee on how to move the training process forward.
Nepal, who are in Group C under the selection, have yet to play their last three games. Nepal is scheduled to play the remaining three games at its home ground Dasharath Stadium. In the first five games, Nepal has added 3 points with 1 win and 4 losses. Nepal ranks fourth in the group of five nations.
Nepal last played a match against Kuwait at Changlimithang ground in Bhutan when the home ground was not ready. Nepal had lost the match 1-0. Out of the four away, matches played earlier, Nepal had won 2-0 at Chinese Taipei. Anjan Bista scored both the goals in the victory.
Nepal had lost the first match 7-0 at Kuwait. After winning the second match, the Nepali team reached Australia and lost 5-0. In the fourth match, Nepal lost 3-0 at Jordan. Now, Nepal is scheduled to play Chinese Taipei, Australia, and Jordan at home.
According to the new game schedule, Nepal will play Chinese Taipei on October 8 (October 8) and Australia five days later (October 27). Nepal will complete its World Cup qualifiers against Jordan on November 12 (November 12).
The top five teams in the five-nation group will qualify for the Asian Cup and participate in the third round of the World Cup qualifiers. The top four teams will also advance to the third round of the World Cup as well as the Asian Cup, while the top three teams will advance to the third round of the Asian Cup. When the top four teams in the group reach the third round of the Asian Cup qualifiers, the rest of the teams will have to play in the playoffs to reach the qualifiers.
Looking at the results so far, Nepal is in a position to play in the playoffs for the Asian Cup qualifiers. Nepal is expected to achieve good results in the remaining three games. Nepal has not played the internationally recognized FIFA game after the stadium was damaged due to the earthquake.
In Nepal, Australia is at the top of Group B with 12 points from 4 matches. Second-placed Kuwait and third-placed Jordan have the same score of 10-10. Nepal is in the fourth position with 3 points and Chinese Taipei is without points.
